What Are Mud Dauber Fittings?

Tylok® Mud Daubers are designed to protect the open ends of tubing, instruments, outlet vents, and exhaust linesfrom contamination. Inspired by the very real threat of mud dauber wasps—who are notorious for nesting in small cavities—these fittings prevent insects and debris from entering and clogging your system.

How They Work

Each Vent Protector fitting features a 300 series stainless steel 40-mesh wire screen, which acts as a protective barrier. This screen allows system media to vent freely while preventing obstructive foreign objects—like dirt, debris, or insects—from entering and causing system malfunctions or costly downtime.

These fittings are especially useful in outdoor environments or in industries where process lines may be idle for extended periods, such as aerospace, chemical processing, energy, and water treatment.

Configuration Options

Tylok offers Vent Protectors in two configurations to meet your system needs:

• Straight Vent Protectors are available in stainless steel for added durability in demanding environments.
  To specify stainless steel, simply add “SS” in front of the part number.

• Angled Vent Protectors are made from Polypropylene (PP), offering a lightweight and corrosion-resistant alternative for applications requiring a compact profile or angled configuration.
